Lung Cancer Rates Declining in Women

Reference- www.myfoxphoenix.com
Summary-Lung Cancer Diagnoses rates in the United States have finally started to drop among women after steadily decreasing among men for years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The report found that 2006-2008, the number of lung cancer cases in women in the US dropped 2.2%. For men it dropped 2.9% between 2005 and 2008. The CDC claims that the states with the least lung cancer cases are the ones with the least smokers, or people that are trying ot get trid of the habit, same with tobacco users.
Critique- I think that this is a very good thing. Lung cancer is a very deadly disease and to see that the rates of it have gone down more in women is amazing. That means that there is now less of a rate for women to get this disease. But I think that smoking and tobacco takes a part in whether or not you get lung cancer.
Impact-This may raise more awareness for the disease, sickness. Also it may make people think that they have less of a chance of getting it, so they may not be so cautious anymore.
