Boom in Prescription Drugs Makes Its Way to Young Children; Accidental Poisonings Way Up

Researchers say that the use of prescription medicine being used by children is growing to be more common. Children are becoming more exposed to these drugs. The number of children 5 years old or younger being admitted to the emergency room due to these drugs have increased 36 percent in 7 years. During 7 years, 43 percent of the kids were injured and a total of 90 children died because of unintentional overdose or misuse of these medicines. The use of prescription drugs is becoming more normal for adults and teenagers, so this provides easy access for children. Being a teenager, this totally upsets me. Our younger siblings and friends should not have to pay for our bad decisions of using drugs for the wrong reasons. I’m not saying that all teenagers do this, but I’m saying that we need to do something to prevent it. Such as, keep our medicines out of reach of young kids and make sure you know exactly where they are at all times. It’s always better to be cautious.
