ANIMAL TESTING
Animal testing in today’s society is not has unusual has you may think. Many
companies world wide use animal to test their products. Some get their animals
from “dealers” or pounds and euthanize them right after they can’t use them
anymore. Usually after they are done with the animal they dissect the bodies to
see how the testing affected their insides and is considered to be disrespectful.
Animal testing fall into three major categories: pure research ( studying of diseases
and medicines ), toxicology ( testing of chemicals also known has “safety testing”
), and applied research which go hand in hand with the other two categories. It
is estimated that 50- 100 million animals are used world wide yearly in animal
testing. Only a select few animal categories are covered by the USDA and receive
proper “care” and “treatment”. Rodents, birds, and fish aren’t included in this
coverage. Rodents, birds, and fish make up 95% percent of the animals tested in
America. Animals used for breeding and killed has surplus are not included in the
50-100 million estimation. Laws have been passed to ensure that animals have
tested and retested all new medication to make sure it is safe for humans.
Animals don’t deserve to be tested on and bread to help “ensure” the
quality of our modern day technology. If the product has to be tested then it
shouldn’t be used period.
