Physical Activity Impacts Overall Quality of Sleep

Reference: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/11/111122143354.htm

Summary: A new study has concluded that people sleep significantly better and feel more alert during the day if they get at least 150 minutes of excessive a week. 2,600 men and women between the ages of 18 and 85 tested this out and found it to be true. In fact, 65 percent of them said that there was a huge difference in their sleeping habits. The people who slept better were the ones that had at least 2 1/2 hours of exercise.

Critique: These results do not surprise me at all. Think about it, playing video games or playing basketball, which one makes you feel tired more tired? You are definitely going to feel tired if you are sitting there staring at a TV and sitting on a comfortable couch, rather than running constantly. Physically, you are more alert because you can't just relax when you are playing basketball, you have to move.

Impact: This could definitely wake up some students. I am always hearing how tired everyone is at school, but maybe if you were a little more active, you might be a little less tired. Maybe instead of watching tv you could go play football or something that involves physical movement.
