Lighten Up Your Favorite Foods

Reference: http://www.cbn.com/health/weightloss/elliott_LightenUp.aspx

Summary: Lots of people don’t think that they can eat healthy, but you can.  Eating a healthy diet doesn’t mean you can’t eat all the foods you like to eat. For example; many people like baked potatoes and they are very good for you, but they can be unhealthy for you if you add all the other stuff that you don’t need.  Here are some different condiments that can make your foods healthier.  Instead of using mayo, use mustard or BBQ sauce.  Sugar can be good but it is also bad for you.  So use vanilla and spices to your tea or your coffee.  Herbs and spices are a lot better than butter and cream sauces.  Here are some other things you can use to help keep down the calories.  In place of turkey you can use beef or pork.  Also instead of whole eggs us egg whites to help reduce the calories.  When you make a sandwich, don’t use white bread use whole-grain bread.  Use turkey or chicken for your sandwich and add a lot of vegetables. There are many other things you can add are good and healthy for your body.

Critique: Not everyone likes to eat healthy but being healthy means to be fit.  It’s ok if you’re not fit, but eating too much junk food or foods that have a lot of calories can harm you.  It is our responsibility to take care of our bodies and eating healthy is a good way to start.

Impact: Living a healthy lifestyle by eating right is a good choice.  While there are lots of great foods out there that taste good but are technically not the greatest for your body, there are just as many things that taste great and are great for you body.  These things that are healthy are not all going to taste bad. We should be willing to try things once and make a judgment call from there.
