Dreaming Takes the Sting out of Painful Memories, Research Shows
Summary:
The University of California did more research and found that time we spend in dreams can help us overcome painful ordeals. They also found that during our dream phase of sleep that our stress shuts down and the brain processes emotional experiences we have gone through and keeps us from thinking about “bad” memories.
Critique:
I think this is so neat that when people say they need to escape reality they go to sleep, it really is helping them get away from their emotional distress.
Impact:
A lot of people deal with depression and have bad memories and emotional problems; because of this many people turn to drugs, alcohol, and more. These only work for short amounts of times so now they know that they could take a nap and release themselves from the hard things they are going through.
