Summary: On of the leading causes of death for amphibians is a fungal disease known as chytrid. Trading amphibians world-wide have not only spread this disease, but it created it. This is disease is one of the most devastating and highly lethal. Not only can illegal pet trade spread a variety of known and unknown diseases, but it can also cause extinction. When people illegally trade foreign animal, the usually get them from "hot spots" in other countries that is overflowing with disease. Taking these animals can also lead to humans catching this disease.

Critique: This article really hit me hard. I am a huge animal-love and it upsets me to even think that people are removing animals from their environment, illegally , and selling them to make a profit. This is wrong on so many levels.

Impact: this should make more individuals aware of the seriousness of this subject. Not only are they effecting the animals safety and health, but they are also impacting the human race. These diseases can be spread to humans. People should reconsider their plans to trade these animals for all of these different reasons.
