Holiday Food And Fitness Plan

Reference: http://www.cbn.com/health/nutrition/DrLen_holidayfitness.aspx

Summary: The holidays are the biggest, and hardest times for people on their diets and exercises.  Here are five steps to help you out.  Don’t give yourself a limit.  It is not the best time to start a diet.  You should start after the holiday so that you won’t be temped to eat junk food.  If you are at a family party where there is a bunch of snacks and goodies and you want to eat one, then go ahead.  Being happy and in a good mood has been told to have no negative affect on your body.  So enjoy because it is the holiday season.  Next you should try something new or workout.  If your goal is to not lose a lot of weight then that is good because exercising in the holidays is really hard because you have to find time.  Staying active helps keep you on the right track.  The third thing you should do is change they how you workout.  Working out in the holidays is an accomplishment, but during the holidays there is also stress.  By not adding stress to your self-just do an easy workout until the holidays are over.  Next add fiber to your diet.  Fiber makes you full because it makes your digestive system bigger.  Fiber also helps keep stuff moving in your large intestine.  But be carful because too much fiber can make you constipated.  The last thing is to use a digestive enzyme.  Everybody knows that during the holidays that we eat past the limit than we should eat.  Lots of these foods can irritate your digestive system.  Be safe in the holidays and also make sure you have fun with your family.

Critique: I love to eat junk food during the holidays.  I don’t think going through the holidays on a diet would be fun at all!  Part of family traditions and memories is eating all the good food.  Obviously, self-control is a big part. The last thing you want to do is over eat and get sick.  However, I don’t think there is anything wrong with enjoying the holidays with all the food that comes along with them.

Impact: Setting boundaries are a wise thing in the holiday season.  Knowing your limits on when to stop is important to having a fun time eating all the wonderfuls foods during the holidays.  The steps above I think give a bit of wisdom and advice to making sure you still have a good time while celebrating, but not over do it.
