If You're Afraid of Spiders, They Seem Bigger: Phobia's Effect On Perception of Feared Object Allows Fear to Persist

Reference:http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120222204241.htm

Summary: The more you are afraid of spiders, the larger they estimated the spiders had been. "If one is afraid of spiders, and by virtue of being afraid of spiders one tends to perceive spiders as bigger than they really are, that may feed the fear, foster that fear, and make it difficult to overcome," said Michael Vasey, professor of psychology at Ohio State University.

Critique: I am highly afraid of spiders but it was pretty interesting and i never knew that spider felt taller then they really are.

Impact: Could help people with a phobia of spiders to get over them in the future.
