Drilling in Alaska

Shell is planing on drilling off the coast of Alaska but they are being challenged by environmentalist groups. So in an attempt to stop the environmentalist groups from delaying their drilling they were showing officials a plan they have set up to prevent oil spills. And if a blowout or spill was to happen they have a specially trained oil response team on the rig at all times to prevent a spill or blowout from getting out of hand. Environmentalists say that because of Alaska's long nights and stormy seas oil cleanup would be difficult but Shell ensures that their highly trained personnel and spill cleanup equipment could get the well shut and any oil discharged cleaned up quickly and effectively.

This could affect us by reducing the price of fuel or cause an environmental catastrophe in northern Alaska.
