Computer Virus A Threat To Drones?

Summary: What drones do is they follow small groups of people or even individuals and keep people at the military station posted on their whereabouts. So, for one of these individuals to get into the system and give the military the wrong information is bad. On October 7, 2011, Viruses were discovered in the unmanned airplane drones Predator and Reaper. There is currently no name for this virus, and technicians are trying to rid the system of it. They’re not even sure the virus is bad or not. If, however, the virus is controlled by a separate computer or person, the controller can direct the plane to places different than where they’re supposed to go. Apparently, the virus had been discovered two weeks ago, but it was only a miniscule problem and it was not harming the technology. Even now, the only thing it is capable of is arousing suspicion.

Critique: I personally have never heard of a drone until I read the article. Drones are entirely useful to the army, because they don’t have to send out real people to do a dangerous job. This is kind of a big deal. I mean, a huge unmanned aerodynamic thing crashing upon the American people by the hand of some wacko sounds like a big deal to me.

Impact: Like I mentioned in the previous paragraph, if someone got hold of the virus that is now nearly controlling the drones, they could do all kinds of evil things. I am not sure whether or not it is able to carry bombs, but if they can’t, let’s pray to God they don’t find a way to do so.
