Summary:
Getting a “buzz” can boost creativity? What? Researchers found that men who drank themselves a bit tipsy were able to solve more verbal demanding problems in less time then sober men. This is because having a buzz from alcohol loosens a person's focus of attention allowing them to find connections between remotely related ideas. In the experiment more intoxicated men were able to answer questions than sober men and also 3 seconds faster. Intoxication may be aiding verbal creativity by lowering the ability to control ones thoughts.
Critique:
I thought this was interesting, but I don't think that because an intoxicated man can answer verbal questions three seconds faster makes so much of a difference that it will effect science.
Impact:
I think that the experiment they did do was okay, but it has no impact to science. I don't think that someone being intoxicated will help them overall in answering questions.
