How the Zebra Got Its Stripes

Reference: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/02/120209101730.htm

Summary: Horseflies, also known as tabanids, deliver nasty bites that carry disease and distract grazing animals from feeding. These insects are attracted to horizontally polarized light, because reflections from water are horizontally polarized, and aquatic insects use this phenomenon to identify stretches of water, where they can mate and lay eggs. The zebra's stripy hide, might have evolved to disrupt their attractive dark skins and make them less appealing to voracious bloodsuckers.

Critique: I thought that zebras where just made or came that way, I didnt know they had a whole background on how they got their strips.

Impact: Help us know how zebras got their stripes and how they came.
