Abused Children: Mostly under age 1

Summary: A recent study found that most abused children are under the age of one. Only 1.5% of abused kids come to the hospital and out of every 100,000 kids 6 were seriously abused. Kids under 1 had 8 times the chance. For every 100,000 infants 58 died because of abuse, which is more than Sudden Infant Death Syndrome which is 50 out of 100,000. Medical costs for abused kids are way higher than non-abused kids because they stay longer.

Critique: This article made me sad, those poor infants! But I can see why, young parents don't know what they're doing and get frustrated with a screaming baby. But its no excuse.

Impact: Hopefully parents wont abuse their infants!
