Summary: In Alaska, a great amount of Yellow-Cedar Trees have been dying. These trees are not only culturally valuable but also economically valuable. This has been happening for over 100 years. Researchers finally found the problem. It is because the roots of the cedar trees are freezing in the winter. The freezing of the roots causes the trees not to produce anything and also to stop growing.
Impact: The Yellow-Cedar tree may be soon wiped out.
Critique: Personally I think these trees are awesome and I hope they don't get wiped out.
Why are the trees so valuable? I mean, besides the fact they give us oxygen, is there any other reason? To me its just a tree. Is there a way to fix this problem? Is it even a big problem? I think that if it's been happening for over 100 years they won't be dying out that soon will they? Or is it just me? What do you mean by researchers? Next time can you be a little more descriptive so I can understand it fully? Thanks so much!!!!
