Reef Fish Actually Have Shelters

Summary: That's right, just as the title says, the big ol' Reef Fish have shelter to, just like a clown fish or a coral trout. This info was caught on tape by a coral reef cam. They actually like to shelter under flat table corals, corals that are not branchy like bommies (a type of branching coral). In a study, 17 separate locations around North Queensland are homes to Reef Fish. "We made one sort with no roof, one with a translucent roof and one with a roof painted black. Far and away the fish preferred to shelter under the black roof, which suggests they either want to hide or else to avoid direct sunlight," James Kerry says. Impact: Researchers can find out more about the Reef Fish, so if they ever are endangered researchers can help.

Critique: I find this kind of interesting because usually fish like to live in branchy coral reefs, it is not hard to believe that this fish likes to live in the flat topped roofs though.
