Can too much texting make teen sshallow?

Reference: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=154452

Summary: Apparently teens and young adults who text frequently may be risking something more than sore thumbs. Reports say that heavy texters seem a little bit more materialistic. Paul Trapnell, PhD, says that frequent texting is "weakly correlated with traits, goals, and attitudes that indicate low interest and engagement in reflective thought."

Critique: I don't really think this is true. i don't know many people who text a lot and think more about wealth and image.

Impact: I don't really think this will make a huge impact, but I guess there should be a time where you're not around any electronics like cell phones, laptops, etc. and just think about things and reflect and have some quiet time.

  1. I like how you dont agree with the article. I think your right I know people who text alot and it doesnt make them a shallower person. I text a good amount within my days and im deffintly not shallow person.

  2. I text a lot and I know people that text 24/7 and they aren't shallow what so ever. I don't agree with the article at all, but it may just depend on the person I guess. Some people are just shallow regardless of how much or often they text. Texting has nothing to do with personality, it's just how we communicate now a days.

I don't know who did this research, but they may want to do it again and see what they some up with.
