Fatal Painkiller Overdoses Reach 'Epidemic' Levels

Summary- Deaths from people over dosing on prescription painkillers in the U.S. have reached "epidemic" levels over the past 10 years. These overdoses now account for more fatalities than herion and cocaine combined. Vicodin, oxycodone and methadone were the reason that 14,800 people died in 2008 from over dosage.
Critique- I had no idea that so many people overdosed. i wonder if it was suicide or that they accidently overdosed. Vicodin is dangerous that is the really really strong pain killer that doctors usually give if your in excrutiating pain or after surgery or something.
Impact- Obviously this has affected and impacted a lot of people and families since over 14,00 people died of over dose, just in 2008. I can't imagine what the death rate is now.
