‘Extinct’ Frog Hops Back Into Northern Israel
Summary:
A frog species which was thought to be extinct hopped back into and northern Israel. It was spotted for the first time in 50 years. Omri Gal of Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority said that the Hula Painted Frog was declared extinct. The frog is originally from to the Hula Valley, a swamp that was drained to stop malaria in the 1950’s. Dana Milstein said that the frog was rare before and not much is even known about it. She has said that there are more than likely more in the reserve so many are looking out to save the species.
Impact & Critique:
This was a short and easy to read article. It was to the point and understanding. I think it is great that we found a species that we thought was gone and now we have the chance to save them all over again.
