Dreaming Takes the Sting out of Painful Memories

Summary: UC Berkeley researches have performed a study in relation to dreaming and stress. During the dreaming phase when we sleep, REM sleep, the part of our brain focused on stress is chemically shut down. When it is shut down, it processes emotional experiences and "forgets" about the hard ones. This explains why people with Post Traumatic Stress disorder experience nightmares.

Critique: To be honest, this article is both relieving and self explanatory. I find it very interesting that the brain is that complex that it can chemically shut down the stress produces part of the brain when we are dreaming. This makes me want to dream all the time!

Impact: I think this can impact many people. This may cause some people to sleep when they are too stresses which, in turn, will help then hold a better attitude. This may also educate those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to realize their case.
