Deaths From Painkiller Overdose on the Rise, Says CDC

Reference: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/prescription-painkiller-overdose-deaths-rise/story?id=14858375

Summary: New study has found that almost forty people a day die from overdose on painkillers. Some of these painkillers being Vicodin and OxyContin often mixed with cocaine or heroin.

Critique: Wow those are really bad results, I mean 40 people a day is a lot. If the person prescribed Vicodin or OxyContin mixed those prescriptions with heroin or cocaine they can’t honestly think that nothing bad is going to happen.

Impact: Vicodin and OxyContin are rarely prescribed and when they are prescribed it is for things such as broken bones, stitches, and other injuries along that line. To me this means that these painkillers are already a pretty strong but those who mix it with other illegal drugs are looking for something bad to happen. This makes me think that there are either a lot of badly mistaken people out there or people are looking for a way to commit suicide.
