Summary: A new study may prove that empathy is found in our genetics. They had some romantic couples come in and be videotaped telling the other about a hard time in their life. Then, they gathered some people to watch the videos with no sound on and rate which ones are the most understanding and kind. The ones who were rated most understanding and kind all had the specific gene the scientists were studying, and on the other end of it, the ones with the lowest score, did not have the specific gene.
Critique: How cool is that? I wonder if i'm empathic according to my genetic data...
Impact: This totally puts a new spin on things. Maybe genes also determine your personality!
