'Speed Gene' in Modern Racehorses Originated from British Mare 300 Years Ago

Summary:
-"we have been able to identify that the original 'speed gene' originated from a single founder, which was most likely a British Mare about 300 years ago, when local British horse types where the preeminent racing horses, prior to the formal foundation of the Thoroughbred racehorse."
Critique:
The announcement of an actual speed gene is very interesting. I have always wondered why some horses are genetically faster than others.
Impact:
People can identify these specific genes and mate their horses with only the speed gene containing horses.
