Humans taste fat

Humans taste fat

Reference- http://www.biologynews.net/archives/2012/01/15/receptor_for_tasting_fat_identified_in_humans.html

Summary- A study suggests that a certain gene in humans relates to their sensitivity of fat tastes. People who easily detect the presence of fat create more of a particular protein, which enables them to do so. Those who consume more fat become less sensitive to it, because they expect more satisfaction with the more they eat those foods.

Impact- The genetics of people effect their chances of obesity today. Once people have this disease, great chances of cardiovascular disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and arthritis rise.

Critique- I think that whether or not people have the particular protein in their system to create their sensitivity to fats, they should really focus on what foods they consume and the quantity of fat is in their food.
