Jupiters Big Red Spot

Reference: csep.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/Jupiter/redspot.html

Summary: The Great Red Spot is a high-pressure storm. It is very much like a hurricane on earth. It is enormous, 3 earths would fit within it. Humans can only observe it through telescopes, but it has persisted for at least 400 years. Since it is a high-pressure in Jupiter’s Southern Hemisphere, the rotation is about 6 days, and is counterclockwise because it is a low-pressure system. The clouds associated with the spot appear to be 8 km above the storm.

Critique: I think this is positive because it gives is something to examine on Jupiter. It is also very interesting.

Impact: There is no impact because the hurricane seems to be never ending and causes much destruction.
