'Senior' Runners Never Stop Pushing Their Limits in Marathons

Reference: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/01/120119102012.htm

Summary: Romauld Lepers and Thomas Cattagni have researched changes in participation and performance of runners in the New York marathon. The results they had on the different age groups surprised them. They found that the best male runners were over 65 years old and the best female runners were over the age of 45 . This research was an average over the past 30 years. Also, the finish time for the average woman over 45 years old has significantly improved. The same goes for the finish time of male runners over 65.

Critique: These results really surprised me. I thought that the maybe the best runners were young adults. Just because they tend to have more energy and more time to practice for a marathon.

Impact: Maybe this article will encourage the older people. It might motivate them to exercise more or even try to run a marathon one day.
