Saving the Snow Leopard with Stem Cells.

Summary: There are only about 3500 to 7000 snow leopards left in the wild, and the numbers are declining. Scientists at Monash University have produced embryonic stem-like cells, taken from the tissue of an adult snow leopard. Being the first induced pluripotent stem cells from a cat, this breakthrough brings forth the possibility of cryopreservation of their genetic material for possible use in cloning in the future.

Impact: This can help raise the numbers of snow leopards in the future so they don't go extinct.

Critique: I think this is a really cool breakthrough, because it can possibly help prevent the extinction of the snow leopard.
