Summary: According to a new study from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, people with schizophrenia showed more brain activity during tests that induce a mild form of delusional thinking. Scientist Dr. Mahesh Menon said that they were studying a type of delusion called a delusion of reference which occurs up to two-thirds of people with schizophrenia. Patients in this study were all taking anti-psychotic medication.
Critique: It could be possible for it to be linked to delusion-like experience, but the scientists are gonna have to conduct further research in order to prove this.
Impact: Once they prove that the two are linked, this could possibl help create medication for schizophrenic patients.
