Some dogs that were going to made into food were found dead on scene. Over 1,000 dogs were saved from going to a slaughter house. The animal-loving blogger was located in Chongqing, China. The 1,137 dogs were stacked in a flatbed truck. "Now we urgently need more professional volunteers to come and take care of the dogs as many people are going home as the Chinese New Year is approaching" says Peng (the rescuer). Most of the dogs were starving and in terrible conditions, with the worst dead in their cages. By Thursday about 16 dogs died and 30 sent to an animal hospital. One voluenteer agreed to letting the dogs be stored in a 1,000 square foot wear house untill they figured out how to get them all to safety. Peng estimated that about 20% of the dogs would be adopted locally since they are highly saught for breeds such as Chow and Husky. The organization plans to rent another space so that they can quarintine the sickly dogs. More situations of dogs becoming a meal has sprung up in China due to the lack of legal rights for animals. Cai Chunhong, a Beijing lawyer who focuses on animal protection, told the newspaper "But as the country lacks regulation on the slaughter of cats and dogs, dealers will not be punished when they ship dead or sick animals for dinner tables. Therefore, such cruel business cannot be easily banned in the near future." After this two animal protection organizations donated $13,000 to a dog trader to rescue about 800 dogs that were on the way to a slaughter.

Well, me being an animal lover didn't know this. Now that I do I want to fly to China and do anything in my power to prevent this. Dogs should not be eaten, nor should cats or horses. This is sad and angers me. Something should be done! I never knew China had so much of a lack or rules regarding animal rights. In america this would be considered abuse. The way the dogs were in the cages and packed in the truck would be abuse, let alone eating them. I have 6 dogs and would kill anyone who would try to eat them. I'm sure anyone who loves animals as much as I do would agree.
