invisible gorilla effect

Summary- Good listeners turn deaf when they hear unexpected sounds. Paying close attention to a conversation creates a situation which background noises go unheard. This is called the "invisible gorilla effect". A decade ago, researchers put on a video for some volunteers. Those people, which were watching a basketball being passed, failed to notice a gorilla suited person walk through the group. A scientist says, "We're not aware of as much as we think we are." This can wipe out perceptions of obvious happenings, such as the one I mentioned.
Impact- Sometimes this happens to me. I can be paying attention to someone talking to me, and someone can do something in the background and I would be completely oblivious to it. This is interesting.
Critique- This is weird. I think that you can miss out on a lot of things because of this.
