Steroids Help Babies?

http://news.yahoo.com/steroids-help-very-young-babies-survive-study-210331323.html

Summary: All mothers worry about their babies, it is hardwired into their instincts, but if they were told that taking steroids would help their unborn child they may be somewhat skeptical, yet it is in their best interests. If given a two shot regimen of steroids, a mothers' 23 week old fetus would have a better chance of surviving, then if she weren't given the shots. In short, give them this a few days prior to child birth, and expect the baby to do better and have a better chance of survival. Certainly women with a child in their womb be eager to test this out? Of course they have, however, there were worries of infection in pregnant mothers. This was not apparent in the studies that took place, none of the women in these tests were attacked by disease. In conclusion, giving these women shots of steroids can increase their baby's chances of survival.

My thoughts: This fact could prove to be useful in the future.

Impact: This could further our research and success in saving infants lives.
