Summary- A food company in California is voluntarily recalling 6,141 cartons of cilantro in seven states, including Arizona, that may be contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported, the cilantro is being recalled as a percaution. Cilantro, also known as coriander, was distributed in Arizona, New Jersey, Indiana, California, Massachussetts, South Carolina and Missouri through retailers.
Critique- This definately could be a problem. I think all food should be tested for disease and bacteria before it gets shipped. Otherwise you have to let the retailers know to take that product off the shelf, and try to let all the citizens in that state or area that its infected. It;s just a lot of work to let people know that one of the herbs that they bought has something that could possibly kill them.
Impact- Well if someone gets salmonella then they could possibly die from it so that could be a huge impact. This also impacts the company because they have to recall one of their products, which means they will be receiving less money. Also one of their clients that buys from them might stop buying cilantro from them. So really this can impact both the company and people.
