Reasons not to get a lip/tongue piercing

Reference:http://www.biologynews.net/archives/2008/06/20/warning_for_teens_teeth_and_jewelry_dont_mix.html

Summary: An article explaining why lip and tongue piercing can increase problems in your teeth. A study shows that 15-20% of teens 18-19 with piercings in or around the mouth are in danger of getting gum disease or tooth fractures, which can lead to greater dental problems later on in the grand scheme of life. Parents are instructed to discourage lip/tongue piercings.

Critique: I don't know about you, but I can't stand the dentist's office. If I can avoid that place any way, I will! I think if other teens knew the risks these kinds of piercings have, they would quickly realize looking cool isn't worth having to visit your dentist more than twice a year.

Impact: If parents are pro-active, teens may re-think getting lip/tongue piercings, saving an extra trip to the dentists, and a bundle!
