Curb Chronic Diseases for $1.20

Summary: WHO, the World Health Organization, says that poorer countries could introduce methods to prevent and treat millions of cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease. They also said that these countries could do that for as little as $1.20. The WHO said that there are many cheap steps countries could take to stop non-communicapable diseases, such as heart attacks, strokes, cancers, and chronic respiratory disease. These are responsible for more than 63 percent of all deaths throughout the world and kill about 36 million people every year. Some of the methods are: excise takes on tobacco and alcohol, legislating for smoke-free workplaces and public places, campaigns to reduce the amount of salt and trans fats in foods, public awareness programs, screenings, and counseling.

Critique: I really hope that the citizens of these countries can get the medical help that they need. The steps aren't really expensive. I'm not sure if their governments will implement these ideas, but I think, that it they were properly executed (no corruption occurring), they would succeed.

Impact: Over the course of several years, these steps could potentially save millions of lives.
