Summary: According to data gathered by the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 35.7% of the adult population and 16.9% of children qualify as obese. After two decades of steady increases, obesity rates in adults and children have barely changed during the past twelve years. This shows that efforts of promoting healthy eating habits and exercise havevery little effect on the overweight. Although it is a good thing that obseity rates aren't growing, we'll be dealing with the health consequences of obesity for years to come.
Critique: I do think it's a good thing that the rates aren't getting any higher, but i think that more people should think about the risks of being obese and try to lead a better and healthier lifestyle.
Impact: So many people are eating fast food every single day and are not getting enough exercise which caused the obesity rates to change. Even though it's barely changing right now, I think more people should make an effort to get the rates lowered. More and more people are being diagnosed with heart problems and diabetes, and if obese people would change their eating habits then maybe they could lower their risks.
