The Hubble Space Telescope has captured a wide vieratey of images from galaxies throughout our universe but nothing like this. It caught one peculiar galaxy surrounded by glowing bubbles of gas! This galaxy, Holmberg II, has many dense areas of gas. In these areas stars form from the gas. When stars die, they explode. Since they are made of gas, when they die they release gas bubbles which were seen by the telescope. These images captured were the lifecycles of stars. In many cases, these gas bubbles wouldn’t be able to hold its shape, but because Holmberg II is made of many gas regions and less material it can. This galaxy is one of the very few that have the capabilities to manifest these beautiful bubbles. I wonder what types of gas stars are filled with? I also wonder if our galaxy is heading in the direction of this because of global warming and the large amounts of carbon monoxide being released into the air.
