Mosquito’s Immune System Research

Summary:  A group of scientists at Virginia Tech are trying to figure out the mosquito’s immune system and how it spreads the world wide diseases such as West Nile Fever, Dengue Fever, and Chikungunya Fever.  Two species of mosquitos that mostly carry these including 100 more different diseases are Yellow Fever Mosquito and the Asian Tiger Mosquito. The scientist of Virginia Tech recently discovered an anti-viral pathway in the immune system of Culicine Mosquitos.  All that is said more is that discovering this is a big topic to understand in the mosquito’s immune system.
Impact: The understanding of the mosquito’s immune system is so very important.  This can lead modern medicine to know how to stop worldwide diseases from mosquitos and even get them to stop biting humans and even animals! If scientists can learn about the immune system of blood drinking mosquitos and their carrying viruses, this could cause cures and preventions of diseases and even cancers.
Critique: I hate mosquitos with a passion!!! Every time one bites me, I itch like a fire burns and cause a scar to form! I’m not afraid of bugs but flesh eating bugs and bugs that carry diseases like evil mosquitos!!! If they were human id sue so much money and still squash them!!! People still tell me they help other living things survive. Blasphemy!!! AAAAARRRG!!!!
